Head Physical Therapyin Colorado Springs

We specialize in the treatment and management of acute concussions as well as those with persistent and chronic symptoms. We utilize a patient centered care model incorporating a multi-disciplinary team approach to ensure the best possible care to return you to sport, work and recreational tasks. The management of concussions entails addressing blood flow impairments by utilizing graded exposure to aerobic exercise, improving vestibular and visual dysfunction as well as performing manual therapy and corrective exercises for cervical spine involvement. In addition, a holistic approach is utilized with education on diet and sleep to further improve symptoms. Our main goal is to ensure a safe recovery following this injury and to spread public awareness and education about concussions and how a physical therapist can help. We also provide a comprehension baseline test consisting of 8 tests analyzing neurocognitive function, memory, reaction time, balance and more. Please contact one of offices to learn more!

Frequently Asked Questions

  • If we are asking you to do something that is hurting too much, let us know! Physical therapy should not be severely painful. It is not common to be so sore that patients are in pain or it affects their daily life. If this ever happens during or after an appointment, let us know and we will adapt your program.

  • We recommend budgeting 45-55 minutes for a typical therapy session. We also recommend showing up about 30 minutes early to your first visit. This way, you can complete the paperwork before your visit time and streamline the process.

  • A typical order for physical therapy will ask for 2-3 visits per week for 4-6 weeks. Sometimes the order will specify something different. Because Manual Edge physical therapists specialize in the conditions they treat and are experts in manual therapy, we are often able to resolve conditions with fewer overall visits. Our therapists usually recommend treatment 1 to 2 times per week for 10 to 12 weeks. This gives patients time to recuperate with less pain and ensures that issues are fully resolved before patients are discharged from therapy.

  • Yes. Physical therapy works based on the science of how the body rebuilds and heals. The biggest killer of progress is inconsistency. We recommend adhering to your prescribed sessions agreed upon in your PT Eval to achieve desired results.
